Agility Training Classes

Please understand it takes patience and time to accomplish the goal of playing in the Agility ring. There are still a few instructors who will put your dog on equipment within two or three classes, before the basic skills are in place. Over the years, most successful handlers have realized that solid fundamentals are the basic key to Agility!  By the time you realize you have pushed the dog too soon, you are heading into damage control, instead of smooth coursework. It is much more difficult to retrain a dog then to train correctly in the first place, not to mention frustrating for both the dog and handler. As the saying goes: What you learn first, is what you learn best! Be kind to yourself and your dog and enjoy the process. You and your dog will be a much better team.

Agility is the fastest growing canine sport. Dog/handler teams race against the clock and other teams through obstacle courses including jumps, tunnels, teeter-totters and weave poles. In the agility classes our instructors will show you tips and tricks on doing safe, fast and fun agility all in our fully matted, indoor, temperature controlled facility. Classes include: Puppy Agility, Obedience for Agility (4-week course), Agility Foundations, Agility I, Agility II, Agility III. Our instructors also train in other canine sports and are able to bring training tips and tricks from those venues as well.

     BOX WORK   Sunday 9/7 at 3:00 p.m.

Box Work is a staple of good handling.  It is especially useful for helping handlers to improve timing and for dogs to understand collection as well as the skills we can work on “in the box” situation.  Working straight, 90 degree turns, 180 and 270 degree turns, wraps, threadles, pushing to the backside of a jump and moving past a jump without taking it can all be practiced with a simple box.  Double-box work provides even more challenges!  For dogs and handlers in Agility II and III.
