Our Training Methods
"In every class, the training methods are
positive. Praise and petting are tools people always have on hand, and training
treats are a fun and easy way to help accelerate learning." --Holly Hein,
Dog Nose News
Pup-A-Razzi's approach is to reward desirable behaviors and use
management techniques and the withdrawal of attention to both prevent or extinguish
unwanted behaviors. We will work to make owners aware of their
unintentional reinforcement of undesirable behaviors and the need to reinforce
preferred behaviors that the dog offers. Owners are encouraged to find ways to
work on modifying these behaviors throughout the day, not just during formal
training sessions.
Laurie Beck, UKC Competitive Obedience Judge
Laurie likes to say, "Obedience is a sport. Training is a game." And her
classes reflect that mantra. Pup-A-Razzi is proud to have Laurie Beck as instructor for Comptetitive
Obedience classes! Laurie is a UKC obedience judge, and her Briards have earned
AKC and UKC OTCHes, UDX, UD, and CDX titles over the last fifteen years. Laurie uses
positive reinforcement and play in her classes, so expect to get a bit of a
work-out, yourself! In addition to competitive obedience, Laurie trains in
agility, tracking and rally obedience. Her training methods apply across the
board, setting the groundwork for a wide variety of competitive venues. Group and drop-in classes as scheduled. Private lessons available
by appointment. For more information, contact:

Lisa Harper, agility instructor, CGC evaluator, APDT member

"Know thy dog, " Lisa tells her students with a smile. The game of agility is
a team sport. Each member of the team contributes a unique set of talents, and
the better each member knows the other's talents and foibles, the better a team
they make. Lisa works with her students on body language and -positioning
to achieve better communication.
As the founder and owner of Pup-A-Razzi, Lisa teaches agility courses by popular
demand. She is currently owned by four dogs who train with her in agility, water
work, obedience and herding. Lisa has taught most of the class curriculum at
Pup-A-Razzi, and she is also certified as an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
